With Thanksgiving..

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

What a great time of the year, and a great time to be around so many people we love, and enjoy spending time with. I have always loved Thanksgiving, I can remember when I was a kid that it was a HUGE deal to go to my Grandma’s house and eat, I remember going all over the place eating all the time. Somehow that is what thanksgiving became, a time to eat.

Most of us don’t have to go to far to count our blessings and see all that we have to be thankful for. Paul writes that “godliness with contentment is great gain; for we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we will carry nothing out” (1 Tim 6:6-7). We generally speaking live in a home or apartment, very few of us have wondered what we will eat, although it may not be our first choice, we have food. In general we have vehicles that will carry us anywhere we want to go. The blessings continue to pour out in every direction, and we have much reason to be thankful for what we have, and Paul reminds us that in our prayers, we are to let our request be made known to God, with thanksgiving.

Many of us will feast this week on turkey and dressing, and many will enjoy football to the extreme, but lets remember that this time of year is about more than the food. Take time to realize how fortunate you are, and take time to remember that EACH spiritual blessing is in Christ Jesus (Eph 1:3). Remember Paul reminds us there was a time that we were once without hope (Eph 2:2), but we now have hope.

Thank you to each of our parents I want to thank you for all you do. Thank you for the work you put into our youth program each week and thank you for all of your participation with your children. We could do NOTHING without you. Thank you parents for the opportunity to work with your children each week, it is such a great thing to watch them grow and mature spiritually. To our kiddos, thank you for all you do, you will never know on this side of eternity how you encourage me in so many ways. Thank you for your incredible example in all that you do. I love each of you so. To our Elders, thank you for your support of this youth program, and thank you for your insight and guidance in so many things. Finally, to each member here, thank you for all of the words of encouragement, and for the MANY things you do that help me to be a better person, and better Christian. I love each of you, and I am so thankful to be here.
