With Thanksgiving

This is one of the best times of the year for me. Thanksgiving is a time set aside to remember those things that we should give thanks for. The term “thanksgiving” occurs thirty-one times in God’s word, and only eight times in the New Testament.

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving (Col 4:2). God specifically instructs us that we are to be not only “vigilant” but also “thankful” in our prayer life. We are to be thankful in our prayer lives for the things God has provided for us, for the salvation we have because of the sacrifice God the Father has given in Christ Jesus (Eph 5:2).

What things are some things you are thankful for?

  1. I am thankful for a God who loves me and desires for all to be in Heaven for eternity. (1 Tim 2:4).
  2. I am thankful for the church that belongs to Christ. (Acts 20:28)
  3. I am thankful for a family whom I love so much
  4. I am thankful for the greatest youth group ever!
  5. I am thankful for the greatest parents of the greatest kids ever!
  6. I am thankful for a great eldership who leads this congregation and fully supports the work here.

Thank you to each one here today for another great year in the work of the church here at Logan Martin, and thank you for another year of work with each of our young people here. Parents, thank you for your support, your trust, and your help in the work with your children, and thank you to each parent for allowing me to be part of your children’s spiritual development. Young people thank you for your dedication to serving God, for your diligence in studying His word, and for another great year.

The song “Count Your Many Blessings, Name Them One by One” comes to mind, but time in this article does not permit for that. However, take time during the next few days to count all of the blessings which you have. We truly serve a God who is so good.
