Welcome, John Rice

Two items greatly needed to properly accomplish work are skills and tools.  The work of the church is to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Jesus gave the work order in this manner:  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mark 16:15-16). Therefore, the work of the Logan Martin church of Christ is to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

This labor of love may be performed personally and through the assistance of others.  We are all limited in what we can do, how we can do, where we can do and when we can do. But, together there is no limit. Together, the command to teach the gospel to all the world can be accomplished (Colossians 1:6, 23).

One of the tools with which Logan Martin works is youth camps. There are at least three camps, in our area, with which this congregation is associated: Backwoods, Indian Creek and Maywood. Through faithful Christians working at these camps the soul saving gospel is taught to many young people each year. The swimming pool at one camp is referred to as the largest “baptistery” in the county and is most likely the most productive.

Someone questioned that if the camps are such a wonderful tool used in America, why not around the world?  Brother John Rice works with Backwoods Christian Camp and also travels the world working with and setting up camps. Through his tireless efforts children and adults around the world are being taught about the love of God.

By your support of his efforts the Logan Martin church of Christ is helping to teach the gospel to many which we will never see this side of Heaven. Our elders have chosen for some time to financially support brother Rice in this good work. Let each of us remember brother Rice in our daily prayers and let us thank God for good tools and good skills.

                                                                                Tim
