Wednesday’s Word

To show that the Lord is upright: he is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in him (Psalm 92: 15).
This verse shows a contrast between what God is and what God is not. God is upright and my rock; God is my strength and anchor; God is my assurance and steadfastness; God is my hope and truth. If God is ever less than these things, He ceases to be God (James 1:17). God will never change; the word of God will never change and there will never be a hint of change. The world is often referenced as “ever changing”; God could be spoken of as “never changing.”¬†God is not unrighteous and will never be unrighteous.
The righteousness of God was shown when He created the world. God created a world and He created a people, to whom He gave dominion over the world. He created a people who are temporary, but He made it possible for those people to live with Him eternally.
The righteousness of God was shown when He created mankind. God created a life wherein man can better himself through his love for God. The commandments of God are not burdensome to man, but rather they are a source of strength for man.
The righteousness of God was shown through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul states that through one man sin entered into the world and death by sin, therefore death comes upon all men (Romans 5:12); the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). God, through the death of Jesus Christ, makes it possible for the curse of death to be removed from man.
The righteousness of God will be shown in eternal judgement. God is righteous in all things; there is no unrighteousness in God; therefore, God’s judgement will be righteous. It will be righteous because of His love for Jesus; it will be righteous because of His love for all who are obedient unto the gospel; it will be righteous because of His righteous wrath against the disobedient.
Let us strive to live righteous lives, through the Son, to be like the Father.
