Wednesday’s Word

Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps (Psalm 85:13).
Who directs your steps? Who sets the pathway for your life? Whose steps do you follow in life?
The one obvious answer to each of these questions is, God. God should be and must be the one to direct our steps; God should be and must be the one who sets the pathway of our lives; and God should be and must be the one whose steps we follow in life. But, while the answer is obvious, the reality is often different.
Let us make sure that it is God whom we follow in our youth, in our formative years; let us follow the path of God, as we choose our spouse; let us follow the footsteps of God as we choose our occupation; let us allow God to direct our steps as we travel down each pathway of this life; let us closely follow God as He leads us into eternity.
Why would we choose to follow anyone other than God? God has absolute knowledge about each of our lives. God has absolute knowledge about what has taken place, what is taking place and what will take place. God has absolute knowledge about each of us and He has absolute love for each of us. God knows what is best in each of our lives and God desires that which is best in each of our lives.
Let our prayer be, that we are wise enough to allow God to follow the steps of God.
