Wednesday’s Word

Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare (Psalm 75:1).
We teach our children to pray: God is great; God is good and we thank Him… What a beautiful thought. Indeed, God is worthy of our thanks because He blesses us so wonderfully. God is the giver and sustainer of life, without Him we cease to exist. God is the origin and provider of love, without Him we would not know love. God is the giver of hope, without Him hope does not exist. So, each moment of each day, let us give thanks unto God.
Now, let us consider the flip side of the coin. For what do we give thanks unto Satan? Notice the things we have in our lives which have their origin with Satan. Do you thank Satan for the heartache and separation experienced in death? Do you thank Satan for the turmoil found in hopelessness? Do you thank Satan for injury endured by the innocent? Do you thank Satan for illness that brings suffering into our lives? Do you thank Satan for worry, for uncertainty, for insecurity? Do you thank Satan for hatred? Do you thank Satan for racial prejudice? Do you thank Satan for marital troubles and divorce? Do you thank Satan for physical and verbal abuse? Do you thank Satan for addictions which rule and ruin so many lives? Do you thank Satan for sin and its consequences? There are very few who would be so brassen as to verbally thank Satan, but the vast majority thank him more diligently through their lives.
Let us remember that God is great; God is good and Satan is not. Let us say our thanks unto God and let us show our thanks so that the world will glorify our Father.
