Wednesday’s Word

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High (Psalm 56:2).
As long as the world stands, Satan will be present; until the world ends, Satan will be present; as long as time continues, Satan will be present. On that great day of judgment, Satan will be cast into the place prepared for him, where he will remain eternally. But, until that time, trials and temptations will be before us every day. Therefore, we must realize the essentiality of God being with us every second of every day.
Have you ever considered: if God blinks, we would cease to exist. Without God, we would never have existed (God created all things); without God, we will not exist eternally (Jesus died on the cross so we can live in Heaven forever); and without God, heaven and earth would cease to exist (the same word that created, maintains; II Peter 3:7).
I know we like to think of ourselves as self-sufficient; that we have to rely on one else, but it is this attitude which must be removed from our hearts. To realize our total reliance on God, should humble us and it is that heart which makes it possible for us to submit to God. As Jesus began His beautiful lesson from that hillside, He stated: Blessed are the poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3). Our Lord did not teach that we are to be “poor spirited” but that we are to empty ourselves of ourselves. We are to empty ourselves so that we may be filled by God. Jesus later taught: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).
Our enemies are present daily and God desires to be with us alway, but will we allow Him?
