Tuesday’s Time

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord (Psalm 122:1).
The word translated “glad” is defined as: to brighten up; be blithe or gleesome: –cheer up, be glad; have, make joy, be merry. The psalmist describes the attitude which should be held by all who worship God.

As we worship God, there are many reasons to have joy.As we worship God, we are in the presence of God. Many desire to have an audience with great men, but none can compare to God. God is greater than any and all acquaintances we have; God is greater than our family members; God is greater than the heads of state; God is greater than all and as when we worship Him, we are welcomed before Him.As we worship God, we are sought by God. God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Not only are we before God, we are before God because God desires us to be there.¬†As we worship God, we are privileged to remember the love God has shown to us. Through song, prayer, giving, study of the word of God and partaking of the Lord’s Supper we glorify, praise and honor God.

There should be joy in worshipping God, because only His children may acceptably worship Him. In worship, we are reminded that we are the children of God, the redeemed of God, the delivered by God, the cleansed by God, the saved by God.

As this Lord’s Day approaches, let us be glad to go into the house of the Lord.
