Tuesday’s Time

For a day in the court is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness (Psalm 84:10).
Heaven will be worth is all. It is better to “suffer” with God, than to live the life of ease with Satan. The apostle Paul wrote of the “light affliction” which works an “exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (II Corinthians 4:17). Moses chose to suffer with the children of God, than to “enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season” (Hebrews 11:25).
The things of this world are temporary, Peter reminds us that one day the world and all its works will be burned up (II Peter 3:10); John wrote that the world and the lust of it will pass away (I John 2:17) and Jesus commands His followers to lay up treasures in Heaven because the treasures of this world will go away and only those in Heaven will remain (Matthew 6:19-20).
Whatever Satan may promise is a lie and whatever Satan may give is temporary. God, who cannot lie, makes promises that never fail and gives that which is eternal. The world lives in the here and now because that is all they have, but as children of God we can live the abundant life on earth and the eternal life in Heaven.
Indeed, it would be far better to stand at the gate of Heaven than to sit on the throne of Hell. What one does in eternity does not determine where one spends eternity. But, Paul reminds us that God will judge each individual according to the things done in this body, in this life (II Corinthians 5:10).
Let us follow the path of righteousness through this life, as we follow it to our eternal home in Heaven.
