Thursday’s Thought

The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof (Psalm 97:1).
Each day, we can begin the day with joy, because the Lord reigns. The fact that the Lord reigns, has always been true and will always be true. We can endure the days which seem to be devastating, because the Lord rules. When there is turmoil in our land, there can be peace in our lives, because the Lord reigns. When sickness and death come to visit, we can have hope, because the Lord reigns. When all seems to be lost, we can enjoy salvation, because the Lord reigns.
Yes, God rules and reigns, but we must make sure that we allow Him to rule and reign in our individual lives. Paul reminded the Roman brethren that in sin, Satan reigned in their lives, but in obedience to the gospel, Christ reigned in their lives. Think back to Israel of old: they had God as their King but chose to replace Him with a man. It was a horrible mistake, but God allowed them to reject Him and serve another. Israel suffer greatly when they chose another over God; we suffer greatly when we chose any other over God.
Israel never suffered defeat when they followed God; we will never suffer defeat when we follow God. When God reigns in our lives, we live the abundant life; when God reigns in our lives, we will live eternally. Our King has already won the victory; our King has already defeated death; our King has already defeated Satan; our King already rules and reigns in Heaven. We must make the choice to follow our King; we must make the choice to be with our King; we must make the choice to keep our King, our King.
Our King makes it possible for us to overcome sin; our King makes it possible for us to overcome Satan; our King makes it possible for us to overcome death and our King makes it possible for us to live eternally in Heaven.
Let us serve our King faithfully every day.
