Thursday’s Thought

For thou, Lord, art good and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee (Psalm 86:5).
The psalmist presents a beautiful and loving description of God. This is a description known and realized by every child of God.
God is good. This is a phrase often used and a phrase which is taught to the little children as they are taught to pray: God is great; God is good and we thank him… It is not only a beautiful sentiment, it is a beautiful fact. Indeed, God is good, in every facet and in every way. God is good to use, every second of everyday; God is good in the sunshine and in the rain; God is good in life and in death; God is good on this side of time and in eternity.
God is ready to forgive. God is ready to forgive and also God is able to forgive. Every sin committed is a sin against God, therefore it is God from whom we need forgiveness. God is “ready” to forgive, when man repents and God desires man to repent. The Bible records the fact that God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but He desires man to turn from the wicked ways (Ezekiel 33:11).
God is plenteous in mercy. God is all-powerful, yet He shows mercy. God created man and the world on which we live; it is from God, from whom we receive every good and perfect gift; God sacrificed His only begotten Son, so that we can live and God has prepared a place for man to live with Him forever. Even with these facts, man has rejected God and His love, but God desires to show mercy. If not for the mercy of God, man would be lost and lost without hope.
This day, let us remember God’s goodness, forgiveness and mercy and let us tell others.
