The Love of God

We can never understand the love that God has for each of us. One of my favorite activities when I was a kid was going to my grand-parents house. I always enjoyed time working with my granddad (my Pop), and talking and working with my grandma (my Nan). It never failed that I dreaded to see Monday morning come because I knew that school was to follow, and because we lived thirty miles away I knew that it would be at least five days before I could make it back. Strange isn’t it, I always loved being home with my parents, they are great, but being at Pop’s and Nan’s was always a special time and I didn’t want to leave. Can you imagine the pain Jesus had when He left heaven? I cannot; it was hard enough for me to leave my grandparents, even knowing I was coming back

Imagine going to work, coming as you please, leaving as you please, showing up when it was convenient for you, not paying attention to the task at hand, partially completing the job, and still receiving your paycheck as scheduled. The idea sounds out of this world doesn’t it? Of course it does, we would never expect our job to allow us to do as we wish all the time, at least not and continue to receive our paycheck. But many who choose to not serve the God of the universe believe that eternity is just like this. Why should anyone expect to not serve God and still reap the eternal reward that those who diligently serve Him are promised? God’s word gives some things we need to know and do in order to enjoy the beauty of Heaven once this life has finished.

  1. God Loves us (John 3:16)
  2. We love God because He loves us (1 John 4:19), and if we love God we will do what He ask (John 14:15)
  3. God tells us that those who labor for Him will rest from their labors and receive a reward (Rev 14:13).
  4. God tells us that nothing we do for Him is in vain (in service to Him) (1 Cor 15:58).
  5. God desires all to be saved (1 Tim 2:4)
  6. Although God desires all to be saved we will be judged by the words Jesus spoke (John 12:48)
  7. God will punish those who do not know or obey despite His desire they are saved (2 Thess 1:7-10)
  8. God offers eternal salvation to those who obey Him (Heb 5:8-9)
  9. God will reward those who faithfully serve Him (Col 3:23-25)
  10. We must continue to “grow” in the Christian grace’s in order to be pleasing to God (2 Pet 1:1-8)

Jesus left the presence of God the Father, to come to earth and live as us so that I can be saved, and so that you can be saved, However God expects that we obey Him. What a great reward we have in Heaven for those who faithfully serve God here on earth. I can imagine with the difficulty leaving Nan and Pop’s for five days gave me, leaving heaven for many years had to be difficult. Let us not grow weary in well doing (Gal 6:9), don’t give up, and continue to serve God, and serve God diligently for our reward is great!
