The Escape

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (I Corinthians 10:13).

While traveling down the highway the traffic was stopped because of road work.  Thankfully, we were close to an exit where I knew some alternate routes.  Through these alternate routes we were able to avoid long delays and waits on the highway.  The “escape” routes were there but many of the travelers did not know of these routes, therefore their progress was stopped.

In our lives we are faced with many temptations from which we can escape if we know the way.  Christ said: I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).  The only way to Heaven is through Jesus, but we cannot successfully reach our destination if we do not know the way.  Whatever temptations with which we may be faced, Jesus is the answer.

Jesus is our perfect example.  Our Lord lived a perfect life upon the earth thereby leaving the perfect route to Heaven.  When we follow the example of Christ, as He escaped the temptations of the world, we will enjoy the Heavenly Home as He does.
