Thank You! What Now?

To all who were so diligently involved in the Homecoming and Gospel Meeting for 2013, thank you. Your faithful service to God continues to act as a source of encouragement to all who are good and godly. May God continue to bless you in your good works and may we continue to let our lights shine throughout this community and the world.

What Now?

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister (Colossians 1:21-23).

Summer is waning quickly; school is soon to begin; in the matter of days all will return to their normal routines for fall, winter and spring. This summer was a great time: camp in June; VBS in July; Gospel Meeting in August; also eleven different speakers on our Summer Series.  On Sunday mornings we considered lessons pertaining to “Joy” in June, “Freedom” in July and “Knowledge” in August; on Sunday nights we studied a series investigating the writings of the apostle Paul. From June through August we have been charged, challenged and, I pray, convicted, both individually and congregationally. But, what now?

Paul’s challenge is for all to continue in the things which they had learned. We have the same challenge before us. Let us not be guilty of “settling” back into a routine which allows us to forego the many wonderful things we have learned this summer.  Let us purpose that we will not go back but forward in our service to God.
