School Supplies

Thanks to all who participated in the drive for school supplies.  Your generosity will make it possible for a number of students to have the required supplies to perform the needed task at school.  This is a new outreach program adopted by the church at Logan Martin.

We definitely must ensure that our students are supplied with all that they need as they head back to school. Let us notice a check list:

Proper study habits:

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).  Many versions use the words “Give diligence” and some would suggest that it has nothing to do with study.  The idea of the original phrase is: to give maximum effort.  The maximum effort must be put forth by every child of God (student of the Bible) to properly understand and follow the word of God.

Proper books:

One would desire the books which are to be studied to help in every aspect of our lives and make us well rounded in our knowledge. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (II Peter 1:3).

The study of mathematics:  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness (II Peter 1:5-7).

The study of geography:  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

The study of science: For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul (Leviticus 17:11).

Lunch:

Proper nutrition is a must for a proper and beneficial study.  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world (John 6:51).  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water (John 4:10).

Our Heavenly Father ensures that His children have all that is required to successfully address the tasks which are set before us every day.  Our Father has provided the very best so there lays a great reasonability on us.  It is our responsibility to ensure that we properly utilize these items.  Our responsibility is to daily put into practice good study habits; to become so familiar with the books provided by God and to implement their teachings; to feast upon the diet provided by our Lord and our God.

Let each of us make this our best “school year” ever.
