Our Hope

Are you looking for hope? I recently came across a blog-site where people write in of stories which gave them hope. Concerning hope the Apostle Paul writes:

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up–if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.  And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!  Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. (1 Cor 15:14-19)

It is interesting Paul mentions that our hope is in a risen Christ, in fact that if Christ did not rise our faith is futile (vain). Think of all those in this world who have hope in many things, their job, homes, even other people, however, if someone does not have their hope in Christ they have no true hope.

Imagine so many in this world with no hope, yes it is nice to read a website of the human experience that gives others hope, but how reassuring is it for each of us to know we can have hope because of a God who loves us. Let us not forget, that hope is based in our faith (Heb 11:1), and our faith is based in the word of God (Rom 10:17), and God promises those who “come to a knowledge of the truth”(1 Tim 2:4) which is His word (John 17:17) will be saved.

Does your hope rest firmly in the promises God has made to those who love Him and obey His commandments (Heb 5:9)? How can we assist you in your study of God’s word?
