Monday’s Moment

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3).
We teach the little children: God is great, God is good.” The psalmist wrote: Great is the Lord. The word translated “great” can also be translated: high, mighty, noble. Indeed, God is great. He is greatest, there is none like Him (Isaiah 46:9).

There are none who are worthy to be compared to God. God is great in every aspect: in power, knowledge, presence. It is this great God who is worthy, greatly to be praised. The word “greatly” presents the idea of vehemence; worshipers of God: worship vehemently, wholly, speedily. God is great and God is worthy of our worship with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

God is great and God is worthy of our service, with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. The greatness of God is manifested in the innumerable blessings provided by God. The child of God not only enjoys life, but enjoys the abundant life; the child of God not only enjoys love, but enjoys God’s perfect love; the child of God not only enjoys hope, but the eternal hope.God is great and His greatness is unsearchable, it cannot be denied.

Nicodemus said that he knew Jesus was from God because of the miracles he did (John 3:2). These things done by God cannot be assigned to someone else. His greatness, His goodness cannot have their origin with any other. This was true during the days of the miraculous and this remains true even as God works through the non-miraculous.

We are a wonderfully, blessed people because the God we serve is great. There are many gods who are served in the world, but there is only one God who is great. This day, thank God for His greatness.
