Monday’s Moment

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2).
The psalmist makes a wonderful declaration, a beautiful praise and a statement of assurance. It is a great claim to make, that ones help comes from God and there are many lessons to be gleaned from this fact. One of the first facts to be recognized is that everyone needs help.

We need help in those times of trouble and we need help, even on those days when the bluebirds sing. We need help when we are weak and we need help when we feel strong. We need help when we seem to be by ourselves and we need help when we are numbered with the masses. We need help when we are young and we need help when the flower of our youth has faded. Yes, we need help throughout our lives and the only true help we can get is from God.

God is our one true help, because God is the only one who is able. He is able to help in the time of need, because He is all-knowing and all-powerful. We received help from God because He has promised to never leave or forsake us. In the knowledge of this assurance we enjoy the help of God.

Therefore, knowing that God is ever present, all-knowing and all-powerful, we can be assured that God will help in every situation.Through the knowledge of His help, we are strengthened. God helps us through this assurance; God helps through His word; God helps through His availability in prayer; God helps through the service of His children; God helps us every moment of every day.

Let us thankfully say: my help cometh from the Lord.
