America just celebrated her independence and liberty on July 4th. Each year we Americans commemorate our freedom from the tyrannical rule of Great Britain. Each year through feast and fun we make merry with friends and loved ones as we enjoy our deliverance.

Presently, there are ongoing issues in America which threaten our freedom and liberty. The rumbles of unsettlement sound across this land as the effects of ungodly rulers and ungodly constitutes are felt from person to person, house to house, town to town and state to state.

America may stand, America may fall and / or America may be changed forever, the history yet to be lived and written will record that report. Let us make sure that we are taking advantage of the freedoms, which we presently enjoy, and faithfully serve God every day.

The greatest liberty to be enjoyed has nothing to do with America. The greatest liberty to be had is from God and found in His Kingdom. The greatest liberty to be given was brought to the world by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound (Isaiah 61:1; emp.TLH).

The above quoted passage was first penned by the prophet Isaiah some 750 years before the coming of the Deliverer.  Luke also recorded this passage when spoken by Jesus as he read the Messianic prophet.  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18; emp. TLH).

The liberty found in America is enjoyed in this life; the liberty found in Christ will be enjoyed eternally. The liberty offered in Christ is freedom from the bondage of sin.

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God (Romans 8:21).

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (James 1:25).

As children of God, let us use the liberty in Christ and the liberty found in America to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who remain in the bondage of sin. Let us purpose in our hearts, this day, that no matter what may or may not happen in and to America we will fully use the liberty found in Christ throughout our lives.
