Let No One

Many youth rallies have used it as the theme for the weekend, and many preachers have preached it from the pulpit. The concept for our young people to let no one look down on them because they are young is a very sound and biblical concept. Paul said it this way “

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” (1 Tim 4:12-16).

The value of every Christian is stated over and over again in God’s word (Matt 5:13), but young people can so easily be overlooked in their service to God. Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven to the youngest children (Matt 19:14), Jesus even made all of us aware that unless we humble ourselves as little children we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven (Matt 18:3-4). But despite the continuous references of our Lord, at times the services of our young people can still be overlooked.

Young people know you make a difference in the church, know that your zeal for serving God is contagious to others, and know that there are many members who look at you and admire your youth, and service to God. Remember your example matters, know that if you are under the age of 21 your influence for the cause of Christ is most likely greater now than it will ever be! You know more people, you interact with more people then you most likely every will, and your example, your example as a “Christian” could help convert more people now than at any other time in your life.  Paul reminds Timothy to continue to study the word of God so that his progress will be evident to all. Young people, continue to remain faithful to God, continue to serve God, and continue to remember your example which is important in the kingdom of God. Who can you lead to Christ? Who is watching YOUR example and contemplating a visit with you to any number of activities?
