Just speaking..

Statistically speaking 19.95 Million people watched Oregon and Ohio State battle it in the Rose Bowl, 18 million people watched Tim Tebow play his final game with Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Even the Papa Johns.com bowl drew nearly 3 million viewers. A recent study by the Barna Group (www.barnagroup.com) shows that of “Christian” Americans, only 15% who regualarly attended church services listed their faith as the most important aspect in their life. Only 21% of adults consider themselves to be “Holy”, and even a smaller number consistently study from their bible daily. Statistically speaking more than 88% of persons raised in a n “Evangelical Home” stopped attending church services after graduating high school, and of that number 22% said they were just to busy to attend.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen…. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:1:6).  Faith is more than something that just “happens”. God’s word is clear that faith is “substance” and “evidence” and a “belief” that God is and rewards those who are “diligent” in seeking Him.  God’s word is clear that our faith is developed through our study of God’s word (Rom 10:17).

Faith for the christian should be a top priority, the study of Gods word to develop our faith and to become “Christ Like” should be a top priority in the life of each of us. The faith of our young people is vital, statistics are just that statistics, it is a horrible thing to imagine any of our young people falling away from the Lords church, whether the 88% or 1%.  Thanks be to each of our parents for your work with your children in order to build up their faith. Parents don’t mis understand your example to your children. Paul told the young man Timothy that the “genuine faith” which was found in his mother and grandmother were also found in him (1 Tim 1:5).  Activities designed to study God’s word, and which allow our young people to fellowship with each other are some ways we can look to reverse the statistics, but Parents, know your example matters, and thank each one of you for your excellent example.
