Indian Creek Here We Come

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
“I have no pleasure in them”
(Eccl 12:1)

What fun it was one week ago today as about twenty four of us attended a time to roller skate at the Trussville Play Station. The soreness lasted for days, but it was an incredible time to be together with such an awesome group of kids. We are now less than a week away from our second annual youth retreat at Indian Creek Youth Camp. This is one of the most exciting events on the calendar for me as we anticipate every one of our 7-12th grade kids to be there, and many of our younger ones as well. We hope that EACH parent has made plans to come spend this weekend with their kids.

Area Wide Devotionals, Retreat, Summer Camps, Youth Camps, Group devotionals, Service Projects, and even activities to just be together are VITAL to the spiritual growth of our young people. Each program and activity is designed to help our kids grow spiritually, or spend time in fellowship together, or in service to others, and all are necessary. Don’t misunderstand, there is no program designed to take the place of the training given by our incredible parents each and every day in the homes you are in, but each activity is designed as a supplement to enhance the training our kids are already given.

Solomon, after his many experiences with riches, and all the luxuries of life writes many important things in the book of Ecclesiastes, in chapter twelve two things jump out. Solomon writes “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come…” (Eccl 12:1), and “Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all” (Eccl 12:13). Young people,  be diligent in your service, and in your work for God now, while you are young, it will lay for you a foundation which will keep you solid in your faith as time marches on. What a great weekend we have planned, and I look forward to seeing you at Indian Creek.
