It is hard to believe, but Friends Day 2013 has come and gone. I want to take the opportunity to reminisce about the events of the day.

The day was a success.

It was a success because God was worshipped in spirit and in truth.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). The congregation of the Lord’s people gathered on the first day of the week and worshipped God as commanded in His word.  And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight (Acts 20:7). It was a success because the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught. Lessons from the word of God were presented to both challenge and convict. It was a success because children of God invited, encouraged and exhorted the lost to hear the soul-saving gospel.  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). It was a success because members of the Logan Martin church of Christ worked together in preparation for that event. So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.(Romans 12:5). It was a success because brotherly love was shown to the world so that they may know that we are disciples of Jesus Christ.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35).

The day was sustaining.

The Hebrews writer penned these words: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works (Hebrews 11:24). For all who were present, your attendance encouraged all who were in attendance. For all who so tirelessly worked, the fruits of your labor were enjoyed and appreciated by all who were here. All the visitors were well received and made to feel that they were truly welcomed into our assembly. Joy and love were manifested throughout the day, which uplifts the brethren.

The day was succulent.

Our friends were invited to participate in a spiritual feast and a physical feast. You out did yourselves, again. Our meals are always wonderful, but our lunch on Sunday was extra special. The amount was massive and each dish was masterfully prepared. All who provided are to be commended. The long hours of preparation were evident and the end results were greatly enjoyed. It is great to be able to show our friends that one can have fun being a Christian.

The day was suspenseful.

The day was suspenseful in the fact that we are already looking forward to Friends Day 2014. It is not too early and it is the perfect time to mark your calendars and make your plans to be in attendance for Friends Day 2014, February 2, 2014.

Thank You for Being You.
