Thursday’s Thought

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mount of his holiness (Psalm 48:1).
Many children have been taught the little prayer which begins: “God is great; God is good…” Indeed, God is great and God is deservant of our praise and adoration. If God is not worthy to be praised, then no one or nothing is worthy of our praise. Perhaps, we should realize that God is worthy to be praised, but we are not worthy to praise Him. God is the one who makes it possible for us to praise Him and God is the one who makes it acceptable for us to praise Him. It is a privilege afforded in Christ Jesus for us to praise God.
We sing, “Count Your Many Blessings”, and I pray that we understand that is a impossible task. It is not impossible for us to realize that we are wonderfully blessed; it is not impossible for us to be grateful; it is impossible because the blessings we receive are innumerable. One would have a better chance of numbering the stars and the sand on the seashore, but one could never number the blessings with which God blesses us.
Paul said, “in Him we live and move and have our very being” (Acts 17:28). Without God we do not exist, but with God we can live forever. Only in Heaven will we know the full extent of the blessings in Christ Jesus.
At times we may find ourselves counting those things which we do not have. If we begin to count the blessings we do have, we will never again have time to contemplate that which we do not have. God is great; God is good and we thank Him…
Make sure that you thank God today and everyday.
