Wednesday’s Word

For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding (Psalm 47:7).
Paul told the Athenians that God made the world and all things therein (Acts 17:24). The Athenians did not know God, did not serve God, did not truly worship God but they would one day have to answer to God. Syria of old, did not serve God but was held accountable by God; Assyria of old, did not serve God but was told by Jonah to repent or perish; Babylon of old, did not serve God but Nebuchadnezzar learned that God rules in the kingdoms of all men; the world before the flood did not serve God but was held accountable by God.
One lesson to be learned, from the beginning of time to the present time, is that God is the king of every nation and every individual. With this realization must also be the understanding that every person is amenable to the King and His precepts. When Israel chose a man to be their king and replaced God as their king, Israel remained amenable to God’s law. Every man is a free moral agent; every man has the right to choose God as the king or Satan as their king. But, with the choice must also be the understanding that everyone will ultimately answer to God.
Urgency should be realized by the follower of Christ, understanding that all will be judged by God. Those who have never heard the name of Christ will be judged by God; those who have heard the name of Christ but rejected His word, will be judged by God; those who once obeyed the gospel of Christ but turned away, will be judged by God and those who diligently serve Christ, will be judged by God. Why? Because, God is King of all.
This day and everyday, let us faithfully serve the King.
