Wednesday’s Word

We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, the the times of old (Psalm 44:1).
What do our children hear from us? What do we say to our children? What do we teach our children. If you want your children to know that you love them, teach them about Jesus. If you desire to give that which is best to your children, give them Jesus. If you want to make lasting memories with your children, show them Jesus in your life. If you want to prepare your children for the future, help them follow Jesus. If you want your children to be special and to stand-out, help them stand with Jesus. If you want your children to be rich beyond imagination, give them the treasures found only in Jesus.
The christian life will lead our children through this life and the life to come. The christian life will give our children the abundant life and the eternal life. The christian life will make it possible for our children to endure the dregs of this world and to enjoy the blessings of Heaven. The christian life will strengthen our children when the wolf is at the door and save them when the world is on fire.
Everything we say to our children must have its basis on the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord of our lives. When we speak about education and occupation it must be first and always that Jesus Christ is Lord; when we speak about dating and marriage it must be first and always that Jesus Christ is Lord. When we speak of child rearing and everyday life it must be first and always that Jesus Christ is Lord. When we speak of death and eternity it must be first and always that Jesus Christ is Lord.
On that great day of judgment, there could be no greater compliment than for our children to say: my parents told me about Jesus and showed me Jesus.
