Thursday’s Thought

My soul thirstest for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God (Psalm 42:2)?
Have you ever been thirsty? Have you been thirsty to the point of passing out? Have you been thirsty to the point of dying, if you did not receive a drink? This is the point and idea of the proper desire for God.
Do you desire God? Do you desire to hear the word of God? Do you desire to be with God? Do you desire to be before God? When you do not get to read the Bible, do you hunger for it? When you do not get to meet with the saints, in worship to God, do you long for that time? When you do not get to spend time in meditation with the word of God, does your heart hurt?
We understand what it is desire food. Our bodies crave food and our minds understand the necessity for food. We understand what it is to desire drink. Our bodies crave drinks and our minds understand the necessity for drink. We partake of food and drink every day, several times a day. Do our souls desire food; do our souls desire drink; do our hearts and minds understand the necessity for spiritual food and drink.
Not just any food or drink will satisfy our souls; not just any food or drink will satisfy our spirits. The spiritual food and drink required is that from God, the living God. God, who created us, knows us better than we know ourselves; God, who is our creator, knows what is required for us to live forever.
Each day, let us make sure that we give our souls the proper food and drink. Each day, let us make sure that we go to the proper God for the proper sustenance.
