Thursday’s Thought

The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men (Psalm 11:3).
What would it take to destroy your faith? What would it take to defeat your faith? Is God dead? Has God just lost interest in mankind? Is God incapable of knowing and supplying our needs?
The psalmist reassures us, no matter what may happen in this life: God is on His throne; God is aware; God cares and God is able. Many of the things into which much of the population places their faith and their hopes, fail. The things, people and ideas, upon which many build their faith, fail because they are not God. Many have grown to expect the things upon which they depend, to fail because they have failed so many times. God has never failed and God will never failed.
Perhaps, it is easy for people to become jaded; perhaps, it is easy for people to become skeptical, but, let us never doubt God. God has never given us any reason to doubt Him; God has always given us every reason to trust Him without waver.
When the apostles were in the boat on the stormy sea, Jesus rebuked them because they feared through a lack of faith. Why do we fear? We may not know what will take place today, but we know the One who does know. We may not know what will happen tomorrow, but we do know the One who knows. We do not know when this life will end, but we do know the One who knows. We do know that Christ has promised an abundant life to those who believe and we do know that God has promised an eternal life to those who obey. Trust God. The Lord is in his holy temple and cannot be removed.
