Wednesday’s Word

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalms 1:3).
“He” is the man described in verse one as being blessed by God because his delight is in God. He is blessed because of some things that he does not have in his life: his pleasure is not gained by following the advice of the wicked; his pleasure is not obtained by continuing with those who choose to live lives in defiance to God and his pleasure is not maintained by dwelling with those who mock God and His word. He is blessed because of things he has in his life: he finds pleasure in the word of God, God’s promises, God’s hope and God’s help. Therefore, he thinks upon the word of God night and day.
We can be this blessed man; we can be the one with true pleasure and delight. True pleasure, pleasure gained from God, is in His word and we must read, study and meditate upon the word of God to gain true pleasure. The world desire true pleasure but they do not know where it is found. The child of God has the opportunity, privilege and responsibility to manifest true pleasure before the world. Our lives must show true pleasure to the world even and especially in difficult times. No, we do not enjoy troubles but we enjoy knowing that God is with us and will never leave us; that God will be with us through the storms of life and see us through. No, we do not enjoy the difficulties but we do enjoy the company of the One who is walking with us.
Let us prepare ourselves so that we will be well rooted, we will bring forth fruit as commanded by God and we will prosper as God has promised.
