Wednesday’s Word

My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit (Job 27:3).
The prayer we learned as children begins with these words: God is great; God is good. These declarations were true when we stated them as children and they remain true today. Job did not understand why the trails had come upon him but he did realize that God is in control and God is always good. Bad things happening to good people, does not disprove the goodness of God.
If God were not good:
  1. Good would never have existed.
  2. There would be no good.
  3. We would not know the difference between good and evil.
  4. We would not know good.
Paul said that sin entered the world by one man and death came into the world by sin (Romans 5:12). We do not suffer the guilt of Adam’s sin but we do suffer the consequences of Adam’s sin. By the goodness of God, through the blood of Jesus Christ, we can enjoy deliverance from the bondage of sin.  God is not to be blamed, but glorified. Let us thank God this day and every day.
